First Achieve's Engineering Division are once again partnering with their globally renowned client, who operate within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical & Nuclear industries (to name a few).

Due to continuous growth, we are seeking a General Machinist to work within our clients Oil Refinery in Southampton.

This role is pivotal to the quality of the work undertaken by our client, aligned to an external client of theirs. Based at an oil refinery on the south coast of England, the primary responsibility being general machinist activities - utilising conventional machinery such as Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinding Machines. Etc.

  • Monday to Friday, Day Shift - Staff Position.
  • Competitive Salary + NAECI (Grade 5) Uplift - (Circa £42,000 per annum)

Role & Key Responsibilities.

  • Accountable for safely executing repairs to all Refinery mechanical assets, whilst meeting the highest industry standards through following procedures and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform machine shop duties in the Refinery machine shop to restore and remanufacture components to OEM standards and customer requirements.
  • Competent in operating any size Lathe, Milling Machine, Surface-grinder, Radial Arm drill, Vertical Shaper and Horizontal Boring Mill to produce metallic parts.
  • Perform general fitting and workshop duties
  • Study sample parts, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to machine metallic parts and components, and determine parts and components' dimensions and tolerances
  • Ensures work is carried out in such a way as to meet the safety, quality and schedule requirements related to the refinery's rotating/fixed equipment.

Please Note, only candidates who have served a recognised apprenticeship can be considered for this role.
