Mechanical Engineer / Design and Fabrication
Birmingham, B11 1DG – you will preferably live within a 12-mile radius of Birmingham

*    £32,000 - £38,000 negotiable subject to experience

About Brookeson:

We are a well-established engineering business designing and manufacturing stainless steel material handling equipment for the food and pharmaceutical sectors.

Based in Small Heath (Birmingham), the company operates from a modern dedicated factory:

*    Conveniently located 5 minutes from Small Heath railway station
*    Accessible via the number 8 bus route (inner circle)
*    Just 2 miles from Birmingham City Centre

Working Hours:

*    7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday
*    7.30am to 12.30pm Fridays
*    39 hr working week)

About the Role:

We have an opening for a Mechanical CAD Engineer to join the existing drawing office in our stainless-steel fabrication business.

You will need a good working knowledge of 2D and 3D software. Experience of using AutoCAD is important and knowledge of Lantek or similar CNC programming software an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

*    Produce engineering drawings and manufacturing packs complete with BOMS from customers specifications and URS documents.
*    Draw and detail bespoke components for specialised processes such as machining, laser cutting, and specialised processing.
*    Liaise with the engineering manager and factory management on technical and production matters and project manage small contracts.

The Ideal Candidate:

As a Mechanical CAD Engineer you should have at least 3 years’ experience within the manufacturing industry, with good communication skills and qualifications equivalent to HNC/HND.

You should also be able to meet the following:

*    Knowledge of fabrication operations (welding, machining, laser cutting, etc.).
*    Experience in procurement, scheduling, and coordination of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
*    Highly organised, ambitious, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
*    Capable of managing small to medium-sized projects independently.
*    Strong communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
