Commercial & Contracts Manager

circa £70,000 plus Car Allowance, Healthcare, Pension

One of our newest clients, a global mammoth in the facilities management sector, is looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to deliver a variety of high value CAPEX upgrade projects within a live manufacturing environment.

The Commercial Manager will drive contract value optimisation and administer contracts and agreements, whilst managing budgetary and cost change throughout CAPEX project lifecycles.

The Commercial Manager role will be the driver for developing contract value optimisation, tracking project performance across all contract service streams within a Framework Agreement.  Working within NEC4 and JCT Frameworks, this person will Implement, direct, and monitor the commercial framework consistently across the projects, including customer and supply chain contracts, risk and legal requirements.

The role is based on one of this service provider’s flagship accounts located in Stevenage on a renowned healthcare site.

Role & Responsibilities
 

  • Developing and implementing consistent commercial management
  • Advising the client on commercial and cost matters
  • Providing the administration of contracts and agreements
  • Proactively seeking to manage risk to as low as reasonably practical
  • Collaborating with the Project Management and Co-ordination Team to compile budget and cash flow reports for finance function.  
  • Involvement with all Project activity including leading on the NEC/ JCT/ bespoke contract and all related activities such as cost monitoring, early warning notices, compensation events and LAD’s and variations including client and supply chain final accounts.
  • Using contract management software to manage risk e.g. CEMAR.
  • Provide visibility on contract financial performance including the preparation of monthly accounts including application for payment, pay-less notice, payment certification, cashflow forecasts and query management.
  • Complete Tender Reconciliations for the Project Team.
  • Draft and review contractual documents in line with the framework agreement and EMCOR governance.
  • Work closely with Finance Managers to ensure financial health and governance.
  • Help develop and maintain benchmarking data.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience of cost and commercial management including cost change, cashflow reporting, risk and budget management.
  • Experience of preparing and negotiating complex legal and commercial aspects of sizeable contracts and opportunities.
  • Experience of contract administration and understanding of the NEC4 suite of contracts.
  • A thorough understanding of the principles of risk management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to constructively challenge processes/behaviours and viewpoints.
  • Experienced in working within a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Knowledge/previously use of Power Project, Excel, Power BI, SAP and CEMAR desirable but not essential.
  • CSCS Card (Desirable)
  • Valid UK driving licence.
