Evolving from a small family firm, the company now spans various markets, including residential, commercial, public, technology, infrastructure, and data centers. Their services, covering civil engineering, utilities, and construction, have established a reputation for excellence through collaboration with local suppliers.
 
Responsibilities:
 
As an Estimator, your primary responsibility is to provide competitive tenders for Architectural Projects and assist with Civils Projects. This involves meeting strict tender deadlines and client requirements while adhering to the company's policies and guidelines. Your role also includes securing work to supply the operations teams by assessing costs associated with materials, labor, plant, subcontract, and other resources required for successful project completion.
 
Key Role Deliverables:
  • Provide competitive tenders for Architectural projects (structure, cladding, and roofing) for a varied client base.
  • Assist with competitive tenders for Civils projects (groundworks, utilities, foundations) and fit-out for a varied client base.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain comparable and comprehensive proposals, maintaining a database of approved subcontractors.
  • Maintain communication between Estimating and Operations for realistic tenders, before and after tender issue.
  • Provide support to the Pre-Construction Department for pricing additional items, variations, and alternative rates for ongoing projects.
  • Provide accurate take-offs for provided bills or create new measured bills according to standard structures and methods of measurement.
  • Keep the estimating team updated on outgoing tenders and provide information at weekly meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of pricing information, quotes, and historical data for future reference.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the estimation process and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Attend sites monthly for regular updates on actual costs, latest methods, and construction equipment/resources.
  • Stay informed about market trends, industry standards, and pricing fluctuations for construction materials and services.
  • Fulfill any other reasonable requests as required by Management.
 
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
  • Educated to National Diploma level, ideally in a construction-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of suitable experience in a similar role.
  • Suitable experience working within relevant sectors.
  • Suitable experience working with estimating software packages.
Essential and Desirable Skills:
  • Essential experience in above-ground projects (buildings, structural frame, architectural cladding, roofing, MEP).
  • Advantageous to have experience with datacentre projects in other sectors.
  • Technical knowledge of architectural design to review and understand all enquiry documentation.
  • Time management skills and flexibility for planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to manage complex issues within tight and unpredictable time frames.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of Standard Methods of Measurement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Proficient in Navisworks or similar 3D software.
  • Strong understanding of estimating principles.
