Test Engineers Manager (air tightness, sound insulation, ventilation)

Full Time Position (9am-5pm)

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to take on a pivotal role at JosTec. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the performance, workload, and technical knowledge enhancement of our team of engineers. This position requires a blend of management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to maintain high standards of work and equipment integrity. The successful candidate will ensure operational efficiency, compliance with regulations, and the achievement of departmental KPIs through effective leadership and management.

Engineers perform air tightness tests (part L), sound insulation tests (Part E) and ventilation tests (Part F) on sites across England and Wales. Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in air tightness and sound insulation testing, and ideally similar experience with ventilation testing.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Engineering Team Management:

  • Implement a performance monitoring system for engineers.
  • Manage engineers' workloads, including during absence coverage.
  • Conduct regular reviews, monthly one-to-ones, and annual performance evaluations.
  • Perform monthly audits on engineers to assess competency and equipment condition.
  • Ensure all engineering equipment is properly maintained and within calibration dates.
  • Complete air tightness, sound insulation and ventilation testing whenever required.
  • Provide engineers with necessary information and resources for efficient job completion.
  • Ensure timely completion of all certificates and reports.
  • Act as the first point of contact for site issues, resolving problems promptly.

Technical Knowledge and Development:

  • Have comprehensive understanding of all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) relevant to job responsibilities.
  • Produce technical reports and consult on various engineering tests and analyses.
  • Stay informed about market-leading products and innovations through supplier contact.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven management skills with the ability to handle both individual and team workloads.
  • Strong technical background in sound insulation testing, air tightness testing and ventilation testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to address on-site issues effectively.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

ALL applicants MUST have a full UK driving licence and good level of Maths and English. The successful applicant will use a company vehicle to travel to and from jobs.

Role: Test Engineer’s Manager

Salary: £29,000-£40,000 plus bonus, depending on experience.
