Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Heavy Plant Fitter on behalf of one of our fantastic clients who require someone to cover the whole of the UK.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy mobile cranes to ensure their reliable performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in cranes, employing sound technical knowledge to identify and rectify problems efficiently.
  • Service Schedules: Adhere to service schedules and follow maintenance checklists to ensure comprehensive and thorough servicing of the cranes.
  • Part Replacement: Replace faulty or worn-out parts with new ones, ensuring the use of high-quality components to maintain the crane's integrity.
  • Testing and Calibration: Conduct testing and calibration procedures on crane components, such as load limiters and safety devices, to verify accurate functioning.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, parts used, and any additional recommendations.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance and repairs are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Preventive Measures: Implement preventive maintenance measures to identify potential issues and perform necessary maintenance proactively.
  • Workshop Organisation: Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, ensuring proper storage of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including crane operators and supervisors, to coordinate maintenance activities and address operational needs.



Skills and Qualifications:

  • Heavy Plant Experience: Substantial experience in maintaining and servicing heavy plant machinery, preferably including mobile cranes.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical components, with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
  • Technical Training: Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in heavy plant mechanics or a related field are advantageous.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues.
  • Safety Focus: A commitment to adhering to safety protocols and ensuring the safe operation of the cranes.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping and thorough maintenance procedures.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational skills to manage work orders, spare parts inventory, and maintenance schedules.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals.
