About the role

Onshore Delivery Engineering within the Central Technical Organisation (CTO) is responsible for performing the engineering aspects of all Onshore Wind and Hydrogen projects; commencing at prospection, projects are to be technically specified and delivered through development, consenting, securing finance and construction ensuring Engineering Excellence prior to handover into Asset Operations.

You will be the Delivery Engineer on our Onshore Ireland Wind Projects where you will be responsible for establishing and co-ordinating multi-discipline project specific engineering teams and work processes within assigned projects; supporting the successful delivery that complies with the project requirements, whilst ensuring appropriate engineering design and quality standards and specifications are maintained.

What you'll be doing

  • Strategic leadership and management of Project Specific Engineers to ensure we deliver our Ireland Wind Projects on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
  • Provide focus on all matters related to the engineering specification and design activities on assigned wind projects, ensuring that deliverables are clearly identified and aligned within timelines and budgets.
  • Manage the Engineering design activities during the front end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design stages supporting the Project Managers to ensure delivery satisfies the requirements and timescales of the project.
  • Ownership of the Project Design Management Plan to ensure a consistent approach to Engineering design such that safety, quality and programme is measured and balanced to deliver optimised project outcomes.
  • Lead the planning, prioritisation and coordination of suitably qualified and experienced resource to meet projects requirements, including the management and supervision of any required internal or external third parties (consultants, sub-contractors, etc) for project deliverables.
  • Responsible for ensuring technical and design risks, assumptions, issues and decisions are recorded and addressed appropriately, providing technical expertise and guidance to ensure risk level is as low a reasonably practicable (ALARP) through management of the project engineers.
  • Responsible for fully documenting all design assessments, decisions and recommendations for Design Assurance Reviews at critical phases of the project as defined within the Design Management Process.
  • Coordinate the development of technical specifications across various project engineering disciplines for inclusion within appropriate tender assessments across balance of plant work packages, while managing technical queries.
  • Challenge the project engineers that operational learning and requirements are key considerations and lifetime costs are optimised.
  • Coordinate technical and commercial due diligence, site visits, factory and site acceptance tests and support commissioning as required.
  • Interface with the various Business Unit team, including the wider CTO Central Engineering, Technical Governance and Electricity Connections.
  • Providing weekly reports or escalations as required to the Project Manager and Principal Engineering Manager.

What do you need to be great at this role?

  • You'll have experience in leading engineering teams in the development, design and construction of power generation projects in Ireland.
  • You'll have an understanding of developing and delivering Irish Wind Projects from feasibility to detailed engineering design.
  • You'll possess Project Engineering and Quality Assurance experience.
  • You'll have working knowledge of Engineering industry standards and design, construction, installation and testing codes of practice and regulations.
  • You'll have experience of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP).
  • You'll have as minimum a relevant Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • It would be advantageous for you to have experience and/or or a qualification in Project Management.
  • You would possess a full clean driving license with the ability to work away from base location as and when required, with the need to attend regular meetings in Dublin.
