We are seeking a skilled and qualified Solar Electrician to join our commercial Solar PV installation company based in Norfolk. As a Solar Electrician, you will be responsible for the electrical installation and troubleshooting of solar PV systems on commercial buildings, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety & electrical regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical Installation:
    • To be proficient in commercial steel wiring systems.
    • Install, connect, and commission electrical components of solar PV systems, including solar panels, inverters, wiring, and associated equipment.
    • Ensure correct earthing, wiring, and electrical connections to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the solar PV system.
    • Collaborate with the installation team to coordinate electrical work with other aspects of the installation process.
    • Follow project plans, electrical diagrams, and specifications to ensure accurate and precise electrical installations.
  2. Electrical Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Have the ability to conduct routine inspections and maintenance of installed solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
    • Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults, system malfunctions, and performance issues, utilising appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
    • Repair or replace faulty electrical components, wiring, or equipment to restore proper system functionality.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs performed.
  3. Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to electrical regulations, safety regulations, and industry standards throughout all electrical installations and maintenance activities.
    • Follow proper safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
    • Ensure proper labelling, tagging, and documentation of electrical components and connections in accordance with electrical regulations and best practices.
    • Stay updated on relevant electrical regulations and standards to ensure compliance and adherence to best practices.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Complete accurate and detailed documentation related to electrical installations, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
    • Prepare and submit reports on system performance, maintenance schedules, and electrical inspections as required.
    • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to communicate progress, challenges, and solutions related to electrical work.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate effectively with supervisors, project teams, including solar panel fitters, engineers, and other electricians, to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Communicate with customers and project stakeholders in a professional and customer-oriented manner, addressing any questions or concerns related to electrical work.
    • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to solar PV system electrical installations and maintenance.
    • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in solar PV electrical systems, regulations, and safety procedures.
    • Maintain relevant certifications and qualifications required for electrical work in the solar PV industry.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Solar Electrician or in a similar electrical role, preferably in commercial solar PV installations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, electrical regulations, and regulations related to solar PV installations.
  • Proficiency in installing, connecting, and commissioning electrical components of solar PV systems, including solar panels, inverters, and wiring.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical faults, diagnosing system malfunctions, and conducting repairs.
  • Understanding of electrical safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, project plans, and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Valid electrical qualifications, licenses, and certifications.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
