Warehouse Production Team Leader Job Description

The Company

Shropshire stainless and Aluminium Ltd (SSA) is a large UK multi-metals stockholder of stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass, and bronze products. Supplying a large range of customers across a varied supply chain, we deliver to the whole of the UK and Ireland from our Shrewsbury Headquarters with additional locations in Yate near Bristol & Lurgan in Northern Ireland                                                                                                                                You will be based at our Shrewsbury site as part of an experienced warehouse team, organising workloads and labour, stock control, training individuals and small teams in modern working practices, preparing materials to customer specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the operations manager by leading and motivating a dedicated team to achieve operational excellence and meet productivity targets.
  • Co-ordinating and conducting daily production requirements.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment adhering to health and safety policies including the reporting of accidents and near misses.
  • Utilise strong administrative skills to streamline warehouse production operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and personnel activities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in forklift operations to ensure safe and efficient handling of products.
  • Confidently use the internal ERP system to process and record stock movements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials and products.
  • Inspection of completed parts and material condition.
  • Train new employees in warehouse production procedures and safety protocol.

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years experience of leading and training a small team to deliver an efficient production operation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communications
  • IML Level 2 Leadership and Team Skills or equivalent (Preferred).
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing procedures (Visual Management, 5S and 7 Wastes).
  • Experience of daily production planning.
  • An understanding of electronic ERP systems.
  • Ability to use root cause analysis to resolve non-conformance.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and you may be expected to perform different tasks in line with the business objectives.

2-Week Shift Rotation

  • Week 1 & Week 2 - Monday – Friday 6.00am to 2:30pm
  • Week 3 & Week 4 - Monday – Friday 12.00pm to 20.30pm

Remuneration and Benefits

  • A salaried position circa £28,000 depending on qualifications and experience
  • Quarterly profit related bonus scheme
