Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Leicester

Salary: up to £55k (DOE)

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent Monday - Friday (37.5hrs p/w with some occasional overtime)

The Role

You will be responsible for engineering designs and ensuring that they meet all project requirements.

You will be in charge of reviewing production specifications, modifying equipment settings, and facilitating design concepts. The Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, and processing work. You will also collaborate with purchasing and production teams on design projects.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Designing and producing manufacture drawings of bespoke equipment
  • Processing of drawings, supplied from customers to manufacture equipment.
  • Compiling of job packs to send to workshop/manufacturing production manager.
  • Ordering of materials for job packs (laser/folded parts and raw materials)
  • Sourcing brought in items that are required for jobs
  • Compiling and producing technical and W.I manuals for company equipment for end user
  • Occasional site surveys for line layouts and design detail
  • Enforce and ensure compliance with industry codes, project requirements, and safety regulations

The Candidate

  • Planning and organisational skills to be able run and monitor the production process.
  • The capacity to grasp concepts easily
  • ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programs.
  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
  • The ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.
  • In-depth knowledge of Inventor 3D CAD software
  • Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
  • Understanding of current cutting tool technology
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
