Lead Process Engineer: PPF and SMP Storage - Expiring soon!

We have an exciting new opportunity for a LEAD PROCESS ENGINEER to be based at Warrington in Cheshire.

About the Project:

The PPF project is providing a facility to safely release gas from potentially pressurised packages of SNM, managing potential hydrogen and contamination hazards. There are to be facilities for both and low pressure packages within a new glovebox as well as the facility to decant and sort the material contents of the packages. The glovebox will be inerted using a new nitrogen supply. The project is currently in the detail design phase.

The SMP storage project is looking at taking a significant inventory of SNM packages from several locations and safely storing them in the existing DESF store for an interim period prior to their reworking through another plant in the future.
Management of hydrogen and other hazards is at the core of this project also, and much of the work is building the case for a change in use of the existing store. This project
is currently in the concept/prelim design phase.

About the Role:

To lead an existing and expanding team working across two projects in the SNM area, looking at:

Management of chemical, DSEAR, chemo-toxic and radiological hazards.
Development of nitrogen interring system.
Working with specialist supply chain.
Engagement with SNM Technical team.
Engagement with key stakeholders.
Identification and management of key project risks.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline).
Chartered Chemical Engineer with IChemE/EC.
Experience of nuclear industry design delivery.
Proactive and driven approach to work.
Good communication skills.
Experience of leading a team of Process engineers.
Experience of working with other disciplines and key stakeholders.
Basic clearance required. Ideally will hold SL P1 or P4 pass and have SL IT access.
Competent report writing skills: clearly and concisely reporting findings.
Comfortable working under time and cost constraints.
Experience of producing estimates and inputting to / reporting against schedules.
DSEAR / hydrogen management experience.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Experience with Sellafield Ltd checking and approval procedure.

Shall have or be capable of attaining SC clearance
