Summary of Role

You will lead the main contract sales team based at our Birmingham office, driving forward large and prestigious contracts, varying in scale and complexity, primarily in the retail, manufacturing, commercial and warehousing sectors. You will maintain our high quality ‘people’ focused approach to delivering excellence in the sprinkler industry.  You will also forge new relationships with customers/clients further developing our regional sales ambitions.

What you will be doing

  • Leading a team of 5 experienced sales and estimating  professionals.
  • Leading and developing the team including taking on apprentices and bringing them through as the next generation of Sprinkler sales/Estimators.
  • You will take overall responsibility for owning the existing customer base working with existing customer base within your designated region, and for growing the pipeline of opportunities from existing and new customers.
  • Prioritise incoming and existing opportunities delegating opportunities to your sales team to develop proposals.
  • Identify appropriate solutions for customer based on requirements/specifications and create proposals for presentation.
  • Take the lead in proposal meetings with customers to present their proposals seeking feedback through this process.
  • Ensure feedback is explored with the internal team and make further recommendations where required to develop the proposal to satisfaction.
  • Conduct face-to-face close out/handover meetings with client and project teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the Design/Project Teams to prepare the technical proposal being fully conversant with implications for risk in terms of installation, finance, resource, programme, legislation, industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the UK Sales.
  • Conduct regular account management meetings with clients/customers to maintain strong customer relationships either face-to-face or online if necessary.
  • Ensure all internal systems (CRM) and databases are updated in a timely and accurate manner (Goldvision is our CRM system)
  • Actively participate in internal and external meetings/events where business development presence is required.
  • Lead the review of win/loss KPI’s and understand the statistics to inform future proposals.
  • Manage and develop the internal sales team providing strong leadership, direction, support and development for all team members.

What we will need from you

  • Will have performed a similar regional sales/estimating role within the fire protection industry (essential).
  • Experience of developing technical sprinkler quotations/bids (essential).
  • Understanding of construction programs/building regulations/industry standards/legislation (essential).
  • Creative in approach with the ability to maintain and develop positive customer relationships (essential).
  • Proven influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to present work winning presentation proposals to clients fielding technical, financial, project installation, program questions/challenges (essential).
  • Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable numerical skills (essential).
  • Able to prioritise leads/opportunities and know when to delegate or take ownership (essential).
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities (essential).
  • Can demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and efficiency (essential).
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with the natural ability to engage with customers/clients representing Hall & Kay professionally and positively (essential).
  • Proven IT skills with experience of MS office packages plus experience with Autocad/Revit would be desirable.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team including performance appraisals, career development (desirable).

  • 36.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8.45 – 16.40, Friday 8.45 – 4pm)
