We are currently looking to recruit for a Senior 3D Product Designer on a permanent basis based in Poole. You will be working on innovative product design for a well-known, popular homewares brand for their small domestic appliances range.

This is a newly created role where you will be working in a fast-paced design environment and be responsible for new product development, applying technical knowledge and creative flair to deliver reliable solutions to the market.

Although working solely in this role designing small domestic appliances, you will be working within a team of 8 Product Designers who work on the group’s other product ranges.

You will be responsible for coming up with new designs from briefings, ideas from account managers / senior staff and using existing technology and tooling where appropriate.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to see your designs come to life and be a prominent product in homes around the world.

Within this role you will be;

  • Undertaking all product design through conception, CAD execution and prototyping
  • Working closely with the Account Managers to set design requirements, based on information from internal teams and consumer research.
  • Keeping up to date on current industry trends and market conditions.
  • Applying an understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Delivering concepts in-line with the critical path.
  • Evaluating and improving designs for cost efficiency and manufacturing improvements.
  • Creating 3D CAD rendered ideas
  • Working closely with teams in the UK and China, using existing developed products and components where necessary to reduce development lead times and increase speed to market.

For this role the successful candidate will;

  • Be degree qualified in Product Design or Industrial Design Engineering
  • Possess four years+ of proven experience in a Product Design environment with strong Industrial design skills
  • A creative thought process with a self-motivated drive to deliver commercial product solutions.
  • Experience in delivering real-world products to market with relevant experience in the consumer domestic appliance space.
  • Experience in plastic manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of any of the following design software and techniques in both 2D and 3D: Fusion 360, Solidworks, Creo, Rhino, 3DsMax.
  • Experience with rendering packages such as Key Shot is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and translate these into a usable format for manufacturing.
  • Excellent hand drawing / sketching 2D visualisation skills.
  • Ability to travel independently as and when required.
