At Enable, a Senior Civil Design Engineer works in many sectors including railway, highways, renewables, utilities and uses their technical knowledge to design, build and maintain the nation’s infrastructure systems within a multifunctional design consultancy and engineering services team. 

The Senior Engineer will be expected to work within a multidiscipline design and engineering services team, working on designonly schemes and also design and build schemes. 

You will perform a variety of functions in scoping & production of designs in addition to acting as primary checker for the designs as acting Design CRE (or CRE under mentorship) on non-complex rail projects. On non-rail projects the Senior Engineer shall act as a deputy design lead for the designs interfacing with the design team(s) and client(s) where required. 

The role shall lead on discipline specific design packages, which will include Technical Specifications, Performance Specifications, Written Reports (Design and Feasibility), review of Design Drawings, preparation of design packs for interdisciplinary design checks / reviews, preparation of Approved for Construction design packages and also production of AsBuilt Information. 

The Senior Engineer may occasionally deputise in the absence of the Principal Engineer however this would be shared amongst other senior members of the team where possible. 

Requirements for the role:
Qualifications:

Degree in civil Engineer

Working to ward chartered status with ICE

CDM awareness

Experience:

Previous experience of carrying out Design Engineer role on Rail Projects is essential Railway experience with both, Network Rail and London Underground is advantageous 

Experience in common data environment (CDE) use and administration (i.e. ProjectWise) 

Experience working within a construction environment advantageous 

Technical Proficiency: 

Experience of reviewing and interpreting outputs of survey data 

Experience undertaking design appraisals Highly technical with 

Experience producing design calculations from first principles relating to current standards 

Competent using MS Office suite 

Experienced reviewing drawing and design production with ability to provide feedback to project teams 

Knowledgeable of current standards, legislation and procedures. 

Awareness of constructability and value engineering 

Experience working to achieving deadlines 

Familiar with railway terminology.

Ability to lead teams of Design Engineers and Cad Technicians
