Job Title:         Senior Hardware Systems Engineer

Salary:             up to £48,000 per annum dependent on experience

Location:         New Malden

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer. The role will be based in New Malden and offers the opportunity for hybrid working and flexible working hours- individual circumstances will be discussed.

They work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.

The successful candidate will be joining the Hardware Product Team and will cover a number of facets including design of SI Systems, testing and issue resolution.  You will have opportunities with the following: to work for a large global company, to work in different business units for the company, travel, job security and support towards career progression.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Generation of design, test and installation documentation
  • Design proving, including environmental and Electro Magnetic Compatibility aspects
  • Investigation and resolution of design issues
  • Design and build of the electrical and hardware system to achieve successful acceptance (FAT(E))
  • Support to development systems
  • Successful installation and setting to work of hardware on ship
  • Understanding of Configuration Control and baselines
  • Use of Visio for Hardware design

About You:

Essential:

  • Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.
  • An Engineer with experience in a hardware domain
  • Knowledge and experience in COTS hardware
  • A can-do, enthusiastic attitude and enquiring mind, with a flexible approach and openness to involvement in all aspects of the team’s work 

Desirable:

  • Experience with COTS cabinets, cabinet designs, wiring schedules, power distribution would be especially desirable
  • Experience working with the Defence sector

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
