W Talent are now supporting a market leading manufacturing company based in Derbyshire, who are looking to recruit a highly motivated, Manufacturing Engineer to join the Engineering and Improvements Team. This position will be working days, Monday to Friday, with a midday finish on a Friday. Key Responsibilities

As the new Manufacturing Engineer, you will be based at the manufacturing site in Derby where you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and adding value to the organisation through project management and process improvements. Additionally, you will work closely with other team members concentrating on improvements that will enhance the efficiency, quality, and overall performance of the manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support process improvement to optimise manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency while ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic goals.
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion, including scoping, planning, execution, and evaluation, effectively balancing time, cost, and quality considerations to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Conduct value stream mapping and analysis to identify opportunities for streamlining workflow, improving throughput, and enhancing overall performance.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation, identifying root causes of issues, implementing corrective actions, and driving sustainable improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams during the NPI process, providing input on design for manufacturability, process validation, and production readiness to ensure smooth transition to mass production.
  • Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting process issues, resolving manufacturing challenges, and implementing corrective actions to maintain efficient and reliable operations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process optimisation, material substitution, supplier collaboration, and other innovative approaches, contributing to overall business profitability.
  • Work closely with the quality team to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications, implementing quality control measures and participating in root cause analysis and corrective action activities as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree within an Engineering or Process Engineering discipline. 
  • Proven experience in a Manufacturing or Production engineering role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Experience of managing projects to successful completion.
  • Knowledge of process optimisation and efficiency improvements with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and suppliers at all levels.
  • Experience with root cause analysis techniques and corrective action implementation.

Location and Benefits:
