Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Client: One of the UK's top building services contractors with offices throughout the UK and a very healthy order book.

Job Description:
The company is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor from a M&E background to join their dynamic, friendly team in the Manchester region. The successful candidate will support the commercial team on a £20 m+ M&E value, new build pharmaceutical project, near to the university.

Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of quantity surveying duties from inception to completion.
Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports in collaboration with project teams.
Conduct thorough cost analysis, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises to optimize project profitability.
Procure subcontractor packages, negotiate contracts, and manage subcontractor accounts effectively.
Monitor project expenditures, track variations, and implement cost control measures to minimize financial risks.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment with project objectives and requirements.
Provide expert advice on contractual matters, resolving disputes, and managing claims as necessary.
Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, offering guidance and sharing best practices to foster professional development within the team.
Represent the company professionally in client meetings, stakeholder engagements, and industry events.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in the building services industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and client-focused approach.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and relevant legislation
