Our globally renowned blue-chip client has been established for almost a century and they are recognised as market leaders in the innovation of nutritional solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth they are now seeking to recruit an experienced shift Mechanical Engineer - Utilities / Mechanical Operator to complement their professional team responsible for both PPM and reactive repairs on a range of equipment that includes:

o CHP o WWTP

o Compressed air systems o Steam systems

o Nitrogen systems o Utility water systems

o Barometric water system o All Drains

o Clean Ditch o Gas Systems

Based in Purfleet and responsible for monitoring the waste water treatment plant and making sure that all compliance limits are achieved, the successful Mechanical Engineer - Utilities candidate will also be responsible for power generation and Steam production in the CHP plant, providing mechanical service and support for emergency breakdowns and other mechanical duties out of hours as well as maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the department following a GMP schedule and guidelines.

You will supervise contractors when turnkey projects are in place and enter and close work orders using the Maximo CMMS and be responsible for both your own personal safety and that of your team, ensuring the safe start-up, running and shut- down of plant and machinery in your area.

Other responsibilities for this varied and challenging shift position will include looking at weather forecasts to prepare the plant for potential flood conditions and taking the longer than 12-hour view, performing small maintenance related jobs and liaising with the maintenance department as required, and ensuring that product throughput and quality is maintained to the required levels and specification. You will perform site inspections with the use of a digital auditor (Drain system, Lagging, steam leak, air leaks and others) and liaise closely with the Utilities Manager and other process departments to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

Working on a shift basis and providing mechanical support for production breakdowns out of hours (1600hrs to 0700hrs weekdays, weekend days/nights), you will also be responsible for the completion of a clear handover to the oncoming shift and ensuring that shift logs are complete and work orders raised.

To be considered for this exceptional Mechanical Engineer - Utilities opportunity with a genuine blue-chip world leading nutrition organisation you will realistically be qualified to at least C&G / BTech or above in a relevant engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 3 years' experience gained as a fully qualified E& I or Mechanical Engineer, with Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) and Water Treatment plant knowledge proving distinctly advantageous.
