Part Time Health & Safety Officer

My client are currently working towards expansion into the Automotive sector by utilising their liquid cooled resistor as a braking device for heavy vehicles (buses, lorries trucks etc) and Fuel Cell applications.

Job Overview

The role requires a candidate who is ambitious and motivated, who is keen to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice and have relevant experience in a manufacturing company.   

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on all Health and Safety activities onsite, including creating and maintaining accurate and up to date health and safety records (including risk assessments, policies accident investigations, training)
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, including incident reports, inspection findings, and recommendations for improvement
  • Provide safety training and education to employees on topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and safe work practices
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to workplace safety
  • Assist with the development, improvement and auditing of the health and safety systems (including ISO 45001)

Skills, Qualification and Experience

  • Experience as health and safety officer (or similar) within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ISO 45001 (desirable)
  • NEBOSH qualification (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficient in report writing and data analysis
