Purpose of position:

This role would Suit a Quality Engineer with a materials and fabrication background, Welding Supervisor, welding specialist/ technologist or welding engineer.

The role as part of the quality department is to support the company’s operations with involvement in Supplier provided parts, raw material, internal non-conformances, process development, continuous improvement, training and development.

Responsibilities/ Activities:

As a quality engineer, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance across the site, with an expectation of flexibility in undertaking responsibilities with the need of the business.

To ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with company procedures and to ensure conformity and supporting paperwork is supplied with relevant specifications.

Support the inspection of the product at various stages of production. Including raw material and finished components at supplier premises, right through to final inspection in order to identify non conformities in line with company procedures.

To work in a team and alone to support with the inspection and auditing processes (internal and external), work on general quality related activity and projects within the quality department.

Support Production with innovation, process development, standard operating procedures and technology application to support continuous improvement.

Inspect materials, welds, dimensions, painting processes (training and development can be provided)

Competences:

Knowledge of quality and welding management systems ISO9001 and ISO3834

Some experience of EN1090-2 would be advantageous.

Ability to support improvements of processes and procedures

Welder monitoring

Weld sequences/SOP and distortion control

Ability to interpretate engineering drawings and international specifications

Additional information:

Back ground in Welding/ fabrication manufacturing and or quality related activities

Knowledge of Welding processes MAG essential, TIG, SMAW methods advantageous

Material use S355-60, 690-60 plate and pipe and 960-40 plate

Products in manufacture at our facility are Harbour mobile cranes 

The job holder will be methodical, logical and able to communicate information clearly at all levels.

Member of a professional institute (TWI, CQI, NACE, IIW, CMI etc)
