Principal Geotechnical Engineer - Award Winning Independent Consultancy


We are seeking an accomplished Principal Geotechnical Engineer with a track record of excellence to join our esteemed client, an award-winning independent consultancy. You'll play a pivotal role within their expanding Southeast-based team.


Distinguished for their work with a diverse clientele including property developers, railway operators, and local authorities, their portfolio boasts notable projects such as Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium, Dunsfold Aerodrome (home of the Top Gear race track), and Meridian 1 & 2. As a key member of their team, you'll contribute to transformative projects ranging from brownfield site redevelopment to transportation infrastructure initiatives including railways, roads, ports, and harbors.


The role primarily offers remote work flexibility, supplemented by occasional site visits and client meetings (approximately 2-3 visits per month).


The successful candidate will embody the following competencies:

  • Setting and maintaining high standards to meet project targets.
  • Demonstrating professionalism, objectivity, and proactive responsiveness to colleagues and clients.
  • Crafting compelling written reports and articulating complex technical issues clearly and logically.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Excelling in client relationship management, ensuring transparency, and satisfaction.
  • Monitoring project quality, standards, and progress, adhering to internal processes and procedures.
  • Confidently managing budgets and financial aspects of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management, including financial oversight.
  • Technical assessments and designs.
  • Producing and reviewing interpretive and design reports.
  • Providing expert advice to clients and team members.
  • Attendance at site visits and project meetings.


Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Oasys and AutoCAD software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Chartered membership in a relevant institution.
  • Valid UK driver's license.
