INTRODUCTION:

Still family owned and run, Avanti Conveyors has evolved from simply fabricating conveyoring systems, to manufacturing and supplying high quality precision equipment, state-of-the-art software and intuitive control systems for materials handling equipment specifically for the global corrugated packaging market. Due to continuing growth in the business they are now seeking a Project Manager to be part of the ongoing success of Avanti Conveyors.

Avanti Conveyors are based in Furness Vale in a converted dye mill set on the edge of the village close to the Peak Forest Canal. They are positioned within walking distance of Furness Vale train station and a short walk from bus routes. Please note that the role is currently based at Furness Vale but will be moving to Glossop later this year.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To plan, manage and deliver specific installation projects to ensure an excellent delivery in accordance with Avanti standards of customer service, on time, in full, within budget and to the business plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading individual projects from the very start to final test, acceptance & sign off.
  • Manage all aspects of the project process including initial consultations with customers, pre-installation meetings, handover meetings, site surveys, preparation of delivery schedules, project resourcing requirements, running of acceptance tests etc. Lead all project meetings (including installation team meetings), produce meeting actions and monitor and chase completion of actions by all parties. Attend technical meetings.
  • Generate project plans and communicate those to the customer, and to all aspects of the business. Schedule trials and acceptance dates with relevant departments and customer.
  • Monitor budget throughout the project.
  • Ensure provision of all internal documentation (FDS, installation drawings, MLOs, ELOs etc) and gain the necessary internal and external approvals before issuing. Revisit this documentation during the project to ensure all details are still correct.
  • To be on site for a proportion of your time as this role will involve periods of time working away from home in the UK and abroad.
  • Manage the Avanti project delivery team including team leaders, senior installers, installers and PLC engineers to ensure that each project is delivered On Time and In Full (to a KPI of “OTIF”) and that they are keeping to the project plan. Monitor the system start-up to ensure it performs to the as sold specification.
  • Responsible for suggesting training plans for Avanti project delivery team
  • Liaise with the customer and other OEM suppliers to the project, and to ensure that any customer queries or sales enquiries are responded to in a timely and professional manner. Check that the customer is ready for the project to commence and that they have completed their pre-installation works. Ensure the customer adheres to their responsibilities in the project. Document all meetings and calls with the customer. Keep a constant communication flow with all parties throughout the project.
  • Share and prioritise engineering issues with the relevant departments. Maintain issue list with the customer and monitor for timely completion.
  • Make continuous improvement suggestions that will benefit the Project Delivery process through feedback to Avanti’s design and manufacturing team.
  • To work safely at all times and to promote good Health and Safety practice within the business.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • A Project Manager with an engineering/technical background, ideally within a materials handling environment.
  • Evidence of training and experience of managing successful projects. Prince2, APMP, PMI etc would be beneficial. The candidate must be experienced in creating logic driven project programmes in MS Project.
  • Excellent people management skills and a proven ability to manage site teams on large, long term installation projects.
  • Ability to make quick decisions if any issues or problems are found, to ensure quick solutions are agreed so that project deadlines are met.
  • Ability to deal with complex tasks and deliver them to a known budget.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Clear communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work.
  • Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful. Confident, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and determined.
  • Holds a driving licence

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

Delivering Projects On Time In Full (OTIF) with prompt project sign off, achieving or improving on the set budget.
