Due to continued expansion, an opportunity has now arisen for an SHE Officer to join their lower tier COMA facility in West Bromwich. Does this sound like the type of company that can offer you an exciting next step of your career?

Reporting to the Safety Health & Environment Manager and assisting in the development and implementation of site safety, health and environmental programmes, the key responsibilities for your new role as SHE Officer, are as follows:

  • Assisting the production and engineering management teams in developing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Assisting the maintenance of the site’s environmental management system and compiling reports aligned to the requirements of the site’s environmental permit.
  • Ensuring suitable SHE inspection and auditing programmes are established and implemented, including maintenance / follow up of corrective action databases and tracking of KPIs.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of site safety meetings and other safety communications.
  • Reviewing, devising, writing and implementing suitable health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Advising, coaching and mentoring employees on compliance with their legal health and safety duties.
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, issuing reports and ensuring SHE incident log is up to date and maintained.
  • Supporting the delivery of SHE training and managing the competency matrix.
  • Maintaining competent authority communication logs and completing reports for the competent authority.
  • Emergency preparedness aligned to the sites COMAH emergency plan.
  • Fire risk assessments.

My client is keen to hear from people with a minimum of five years health and safety experience, acquired from working within a high-hazard manufacturing environment, such as chemicals, galvanizing or a Foundry. A background of working at a COMAH site would also be advantageous; although not essential.

Regardless of previous expertise, you will hold a NEBOSH certificate or Diploma, be a team player, by nature, and be comfortable working in a fast-moving industrial environment.

In return, my client is offering an excellent salary of £32,000 - £40,000 for a 36.5 hour week. The hours will be 8.45am – 4.30pm, Monday – Friday.
