Head of Design Engineering – Staff (Relocation Support) – Strong Salary + Benefits – Norfolk

Our leading engineering and manufacturing client is seeking a Head of Design Engineering to join their organization on a permanent staff basis.

You will be overseeing engineering design projects; including automation, hydraulic, pneumatic and robotic elements, from initial concept through to build stage.

Duties:

  • The main responsibilities of this role are to lead and oversee new projects, provide technical support to company and customers, liaise on technical matters, and produce, maintain, and manage drawings and assembly ensuring that all design-related operations are conducted to the highest calibre.
  • You will be responsible for the development and reporting of your team, setting objectives, and assessing performance.
  • Oversee the entire design function from concept to shipping to customer.
  • Responsible for the design and completion of products to specific customer requirements, using 3D CAD software, SolidWorks.
  • Support fellow design colleagues with their 3D work.
  • Support the company’s technical developments, turning ideas into a reality.
  • Work on supporting technical documentation e.g. drawings, specifications & BOM’s.
  • Work with colleagues to help develop innovative and creative concept designs for bespoke machinery.
  • Support remotely from UK office, installations and after sales service for equipment globally.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Relevant background in Engineering (ideally bachelor’s degree) and 3D CAD Design in industry.
  • A nongraduate with an equivalent blend of qualifications and increased experience would be considered.
  • Experience in 3D CAD design, SolidWorks (ideally a super-user).
  • Competent in the use of 2D and 3D design packages (ideally Solidworks and Draftsight).
  • Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate especially in common office packages.
  • Strong attention to detail.
