An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Weapon Interfacing Equipment (WIE) team. This position is well-suited for an experienced Systems Engineer to facilitate new design projects and maintain existing products.

The Systems Engineering department here offers specialised knowledge to all projects from bidding to full development phases. It ensures compliance with project and regulatory standards while enhancing the efficiency of the company's systems design function. The department oversees System Architecture, integration of solutions, and implements design strategies for cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical solutions to complex engineering problems, adhering to Systems Engineering methodologies.
  • Develop Systems Engineering artefacts, across the product development process, to result in a positive project outcome.
  • Offer technical guidance and exert influence over one or more projects to ensure the selection of optimal approaches, architectures, designs, and implementations.
  • Take responsibility for designing, developing, and delivering Systems Engineering artifacts for one or more projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with system, hardware, and software departments to ensure consistency, modularity, reusability, and technical excellence in design.
  • Plan, coordinate, and present at internal and external design reviews for senior management and customers, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Actively contribute to or lead defined aspects of projects to achieve the optimal balance between requirements, schedule, and cost.
  • Manage customers and external suppliers to ensure compliance with agreed processes and the achievement of project objectives.
  • Generate and review technical proposals, providing accurate estimates for associated effort, costs, and risks for bids and proposals leading to contract awards.
  • Collaborate closely with project management and engineering project leads to create proposals aimed at reducing project costs and increasing margin.
  • Estimate time and effort required for systems activities and adhere to these estimates to ensure cost and schedule adherence.
  • Review and approve technical documents and chair technical reviews for significant deliverables.
  • Communicate technically complex concepts clearly to less technical stakeholders.
  • Manage information security in accordance with Government regulations as defined in the Security manual.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to less senior members of the team.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in an Engineering/Mathematical/Science-based subject.
  • Experience and knowledge of Systems Engineering, the V-Model and processes/lifecycle.
  • Experience of developing high quality requirements and establishing a fully compliant systems design.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation.
  • Experience in JAMA and hands on development of either hardware, software or firmware development, particularly in an embedded environment.
