This role is a hybrid role, working from home and also from our client's London office.

Our client is one of the UK’s leaders and specialises in working with numerous sectors to deliver low carbon and renewable energy multi-technology generation, distribution and consumption solutions, with turnkey design, build, upgrade, renewal and delivery of energy efficiency projects, adding value to its clients in a number of ways from high quality contract delivery to provision of funding solutions and technical consultancy services. Services include (but are not limited to): CHP, various low carbon and renewable energy solutions, energy from waste, air and ground source heat pumps, BESS, solar PV, biomass, energy centres, HIU’s, ESCo, and communal and district heating.

The business has a strong can-do ethos with a passion for making things happen. Our client has experienced a period of significant growth, and indeed is set on an envious upwards trajectory over the next 5-10 years, and consequently wishes to appoint a high calibre Bid Manager across London and the South. The roles report to the Pre-Construction Director and will support the creation and submission of innovative proposals for the company’s major projects, contracts and frameworks. Your primary responsibility is to lead and manage the development of accurate and timely project bids and submit competitive proposals for the company’s clients.  You will be the main internal and external interface for all project bidding activity and operate as a senior member of the management team

The Role

  • Determine and propose alternatives to plans and specifications in order to demonstrate to clients a true commitment to value engineering
  • Enhance the current project tendering process to improve the company’s ability to win work
  • Lead and contribute towards pre and post tender bid meetings with clients and their representatives in the pursuit of securing work
  • Grow the capacity of the supply chain to diversify the company’s capability for delivery of complex solutions and to achieve best value
  • Ensure appropriate follow through to understand the status of bids post submission, until opportunities are either awarded or closed
  • Ensure contractual requirements are reflected into bids and form part of the handover process with operational teams upon project award
  • Formulate an early view of the intended delivery team and work alongside them to upskill the understanding of submissions with plans and programmes flowing through to delivery and avoiding a transactional handover, ultimately to ensure any bids are fit for construction
  • Assist the pre-contracts teams to meet their financial targets, thus allowing the business to achieve its growth objectives
  • Develop and maintain effective key client and supplier relationships, all in the pursuit of securing projects
  • Ensure you meet current and future work pipeline demands
  • Create a handover culture aimed at ensuring successful operational delivery
  • Tailor standard ITT’s and PQQ’s to submit bespoke, proposals, bids and quotations to clients

The Person

  • Educated in either a mechanical, electrical or construction discipline, coupled with proven experience in a similar role within the construction, M&E or building services sectors
  • A proven track record of successful bid management and delivery at a comparable level of seniority
  • Able to self-motivate and motivate others working as part of a close and successful team
  • Understanding of the importance of input to work winning and pre-contract discussions with clients, and their professional advisors
  • Willingness to embrace new technology, change and advanced ways of working
  • Team, client, and quality focused
  • An instinct for establishing creative, winning and competitive bids and proposals

A highly attractive basic salary (permanent), bonus and an extensive benefits package is on offer to the successful candidates, along with longevity and security of work, and significant career progression opportunity, given the company’s market leading status, and their complete dedication to continued and ambitious growth.
