Track Support / Data Acquisition Engineer 

This amazing 29-week contract for a Track Support Engineer is to support vehicle development and production testing. You will also investigate system issues and produce technical reports through high quality data analysis.
This is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise and skills with a world leading Formula 1 business in Northamptonshire.  

We need this person to:

  • Support vehicle system testing order to support the final development and production of the vehicle
  • Guide and conduct vehicle tests in order to validate power unit control strategies to meet legislations and achieve best performance.
  • Investigate hybrid powertrains issues that affect vehicle operation and performance
  • Understand how the powertrain integrates with vehicle control strategies and be able to diagnose vehicle operation faults to root cause
  • Develop in-house analysis tools
  • Supporting vehicle testing both locally and internationally.


Additional information:

  • Development of design verification and product validation procedures.
  • Ownership of data analysis tools
  • Close liaison with project customer engineers and other internal teams to develop solutions in short time frames.
  • Detailed analysis of test data, reporting back on findings and recommendations for future development


What you will need:

To be skilled at

  • Analysing data using packages such as Concerto, INCA, CANape, Excel, MATLAB and Simulink
  • Solving problems using a structured, driven and considered approach
  • Planning, organising and balancing priorities effectively, with agility and tenacity
  • Communication; able to deliver difficult or complex messages effectively with different audiences
  • Providing constructive and timely feedback that allows improvements to be driven forward effectively.


Previous experience of:

  • Defining and running effective test programmes
  • Vehicle system data logging and test systems
  • Calibration development and delivery
  • Validation methodology and process development
  • Powertrain contribution to car driveability (desirable)
  • Hybrid system development / implementation


Demonstrate knowledge of

  • Hybrid powertrain systems (breadth and depth)
  • Hybrid powertrain test facilities
  • Product validation procedures
  • Efficient data analysis techniques using scripts in Matlab or similar

Hold These qualifications:

A 2.1 degree or above in an engineering discipline

Post Graduate Degree (MSc/Phd) in a relevant subject (desirable)
