Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

Reporting directly to the SMD Manager the new Production Supervisor will support the leading of a team of 20 staff responsible for the Powder paint application for all of product range produced at YMUK along with being expected to foster and drive a culture of continuous, and process improvement within this department. Experience of powder application & the pre treatment process, change management along with a suitable understanding of LEAN methodology and principals will be crucial in this role.

As a line side production supervisor there is a requirement for a formal Management qualification (ILM or above) along with a requirement for further / regular training to be undertaken to support ongoing compliance to Health and Safety and Employment legislation.

Specific duties / responsibilities of this Production Supervisors role will include:

  1. The maintaining and improvement of Health and Safety disciplines within all work areas with a focus on suitable daily management / monitoring of related issues.
  2. Foster a culture of LEAN thinking and continuous improvement with a view to improving overall Productivity along with working quality standards.
  3. Sustain and where required establish new operational processes and standards for the powder line.
  4. Embed the 5s philosophy throughout the production line along with maintaining daily housekeeping routines.
  5. Co-ordinate stock ordering, maintain ISO & BSi standards to comply with regulations & requirements
  6. Control and management of Kaizen activity and continuous improvement.
  7. Administer company policies and procedures appropriately.
  8. Support the effective management of overtime and other ongoing operational costs / expenditure.
  9. Create & maintain production schedules which are accurate & represent the production position at all times.
  10. Control work flow to meet customer delivery deadlines.

Potential candidates for this Production Supervisor role should meet the following criteria:

  1. Previous Operations Management experience within a manufacturing ideally within a powder paint environment.
  2. Experience supporting process and continuous improvement projects.
  3. Excellent understanding of LEAN methodology, techniques and implementation.
  4. Project and/or change management experience.
  5. Strong man management skills with the ability to; lead, manage, motivate and develop a team.
  6. Demonstrate a data driven management methodology with a focus on the monitoring and use of appropriate KPI’s to drive process improvement.

    – Overtime is paid at Time 1/3 first 2 hours then Time 1/2 thereafter each day. Saturday is Time 1/2 and Sunday Double Time.
