Our client is a world leading engineering company that are multi-disciplined with the product lines that go in to oil, gas, power, marine, mining plus, Rail others.
As a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer you would need to be proficient in doing engineering calculations on the shop floor and then taking that to the CAD Software as this role is not just sitting behind a computer.  The product will be bespoke a lot of the time. 
You will have been apprentice trained and/or degree,  masters/PHD or working towards.   
This will be a role for the Mechanical Design Engineer that could take you around the world with where these product go.  

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer
•    Mechanical design of new machinery (both the stator, rotor components and complete machines), upgrades and retrofits
•    Undertaking CAD design of complex components
•    Root cause analysis of failed machinery
•    Production of repair instructions for failed equipment
•    Undertaking engineering activity, including client facing aspects, during all phases of specific projects
•    Undertaking diagnostic activity on machinery prior to failure, including on site analysis of machine condition and compilation of life assessment reports
•    Providing service and maintenance support
•    Completing stress analysis including FEA
•     Assisting the tendering and project management teams with winning new projects and then providing technical oversight thorough to completion
•    Producing test methodologies and instructions for the dynamic testing of large machines and subsequent analysis of results


Qualifications, Experience of the Mechanical Design Engineer
•    Demonstrable experience of working in a engineering design environment previously
•    Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing techniques
•    Ability to work either as part of a team and independently when required
•    Understanding of rotating machines such as motors, generators, turbines, pumps or comparable equipment desirable 
•    Degree qualified with a minimum 3 years relevant experience
•    CAD skills
•    Good documentation skills
