My client in Oxford Banbury is currently in need of an Assistant Financial Controller.

Main purpose of job:

To assist the Financial Controller in preparing timely and accurate financial statements. To support the business by preparing relevant, timely and accurate information for decision making. Day to Day responsibility for the running of the Finance Department in the Financial Controllers absence.

Scope of job:

Reporting to:    Financial Controller

Responsible for: Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost, and Motivation

Main duties:

  • Responsible for Adherence to SOX and maintenance of procedures.
  • Preparation of Period, Quarter and Annual Financial Packs.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Business plan and Quarterly Forecasts.
  • Analysis of Variances of above.
  • Responsible for submitting monthly Group KPI’s ensuring accuracy.
  • Liaise with department heads to improve data capture for the KPI process
  • Investigate variances to business plan & forecast, review, explain and correct.
  • Assist in make or buy decisions.
  • Preparation of certain Balance Sheet Accounts (Monthly) and resolving discrepancies.
  • Take ownership of Period End Accounts process.
  • Review Weekly Cash Flow Forecasts.
  • Review Monthly Currency Cash Flow Forecasts.
  • Control of Working Capital Levels and Cash Flow to Agreed Targets.
  • Preparation of Statutory Accounts.
  • Preparation of Tax Accounts.
  • Along with the Financial accountant, be the Lead and main point of contact for the annual external audit.
  • Assist in Internal and SOX Audits.
  • Assist the Financial Controller in managing the Finance Team on a daily basis.
  • Understand Functions and Tasks of Financial Department in order to manage in Finance Controllers absence.
  • Day to Day Management of Department and Staff in Financial Controllers absence.
  • To use the escalation procedure for any issues/concerns.
  • Suggesting, agreeing and/or Implementing solutions to resolve queries.

Timing

Working within the MAFACT system (internal training).

Ensure all quality decisions are made considering risk to supply and escalate as required.

Report any issues or concerns to your line manager.

Cost:

Participate in continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance on safety, uptime, availability, maintenance, equipment modifications, plant, error proofing, technical systems and processes and cost down opportunities.

Participate in projects within the companies CIP scheme.

Taking fast action to reduce customer demerits and cost of quality.

Use consumables responsibly.

Motivation

Minimum Qualification ACCA/CIMA or Local Equivalent.
