Automation Engineer                   Belfast           

This is a great opportunity for a skilful individual to join a well-established and growing company based in Belfast. The successful candidate will be managing projects within the Water/Wastewater sector from cradle to grave, understanding design briefs, providing technical input and seeing the projects through to commissioning.

You will ideally be degree level educated in a related field with at least 3 years commercial experience in a similar role, ideally within the water/wastewater sector. There will be regular travel to sites across Northern Ireland so a driving license is essential.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Responsible for completing the controls aspects of projects within the schedule and budget.
  • Develop concepts and specifications for equipment from User Requirement Specifications.
  • Develop and Debug machine control programs including PLC/HMI/SCADA
  • Ensure high level of process automation,
  • Involvement in research, development, and implementation of new control technologies
  • Liaising with customers on requirement specifications and project deliverables
  • Provide guidance and direction to junior staff
  • Safeguarded the automation process in respect of safe operations through regular checks and update of control systems.
  • Defining work packages, planning and organising automation activities.
  • Execute test cases, maintain and report on automation equipment performance.
  • Identify any root causes of automation faults/breakdowns and prioritise corrective actions to meet operational processing objectives.
  • Modification of PLC’s input and output programming.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • 3+ years’ experience in the design, development and modification of PLC, SCADA & HMI Software
  • Excellent knowledge of the automation processes and procedures.
  • Experience in the water/wastewater industry highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Good communicator with ability to work well in a team.
  • Driving license
