Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Business Development Consultant – Product Specialist (Drives & Networks).  The role is home-based, with travel based along the M4 Corridor and to head office in Milton Keynes. You would be working for a global market leader in automation technology, where innovation and customer satisfaction is at the forefront of everything they do.

Aa a key member of a well-respected and successful team of product specialists, this challenging role is home based, but with a customer-facing field bias that’s designed to help increase market share.

Indeed, they will rely on you to seek out, support and develop customers in conjunction with the field sales team and provide application and product knowledge during joint visits and project meetings.

Key product areas are electric actuators with both AC servo drives and & DC stepper motors drives, a variety of serial interface capable products linking onto the latest industrial networks and other electrically biased products such as Ionisers. You’ll also be responsible for identifying new opportunities for the product, plus you may well get to be part of European working groups and participate in meetings held with our Europe colleagues. In short, this is an interesting, varied and vital role at the heart of our Product Solutions team.

To succeed, you’ll ideally:

• Be electrically/electronically qualified with a degree or HNC.

• Have experience of selling and specifying AC/DC drives and/or integrating them into a system.

• A good to high level of understanding of serial/bus systems (EtherNET/IP, EtherCAT, PROFINET/Bus,Devicenet, CClink/SSCNET etc.) and/or experience of integrating them. How to sell them and where to implement them would be an advantage.

• A good to high level of PLC integration is also an advantage

•Having a technical knowledge paired with a degree of sales understanding would be beneficial

• Be able to develop relationships with the existing regional sales teams to encourage joint enquiries

• Be comfortable presenting to customers and colleagues as you are liaising with them to solve problems from a technical perspective, a flexible approach and ability to manage a busy workload, including planning and managing your own projects, is important too.

• You’ll also need a valid passport and driving license as some UK and European travel will be involved.
