CNC Machinist Field Engineer - Bristol and Surrounding area

*CNC Machinist Field Engineer*

This job involves going out to companies in your area doing health and safety and general maintenance checks on CNC machines.

It similar to a Service Engineers job but not quite as involved.

Like a Service Engineer, the job will involve stopping out occasionally... not all the time.. maybe around 5 or 6 times per month. Obviously this is fully expensed and you get paid extra when you do stop over.

People doing this job are often moved into a fully skilled Service engineer position within the company  – which is why this vacancy exists – the current person is being promoted.

The job is working in the M40 corridor – so if you live in the Bristol, Chippenham, Swindon or surrounding area, that would be ideal.

*You will need a full driving licence. *

*A fully expensed van and tools are supplied.*

You will need to be currently living in the area (sponsorship is not available).

You don’t need to have Service Engineering experience – but you do need to know your way around a CNC machine.

Someone who has been a CNC Miller who wants to go out visiting companies would be perfect for this job.

Salary: Basic is £32,000 + company van + Bonus (circa £3200) + pension + lunch allowance + breakfast allowance if early start + loads of training.

This a great company to work for – it’s a cracking position and there are loads of opportunities to develop if that is what you are looking for.

*The job is a permanent position from Day 1.*

The company are very secure and very well established.

The company sell high spec CNC Machines – the job involves going out to their clients and doing checks on the machine.

The job is Monday to Friday only. Very, occasionally they are asked to work weekends but it is definitely not obligatory.

Normal hours are 8:30 – 5:30 but this is only a guide. You work on 1 job a day and if you finish the job early then you can usually finish early for the day. It’s swings and roundabouts – some jobs take longer than others.

*What You’ll Be Doing:*

•    Making Health & Safety Checks
•    Check Machine Guarding
•    Check Door Interlocks
•    Check all Emergency Stops work OK
•    Check for any damage to switches
•    Check Condition of Vision Panel
•    Checked rail wiper condition
•    Adjust Gibs
•    Check axis drive belts/couplings and clean motor fans
•    Check all axis ballscrews
•    Discover if there are any taper issues on the spindle
•    Check rotation of spindle and belt tension
•    Check turret brake discs and pads
•    Check main drive belts
•    Checked Hydraulic Oil Condition and Level
•    Check for Pneumatic Leaks
•    Check Batteries
•    Check rotary switches
•    Check for leaks
And so on….

You may have done all these checks as an operator and now you want to go out visiting engineering companies rather than be stuck in one company.

You will obviously need training on these machines – you will shadow someone to begin with and they will show you the ropes.

The company really look after their staff and they like people to stay with them – there is loads of training available and the job is very interesting.
The company supply multiaccess CNC machines to precision engineering companies within the Aerospace, Defence, Power generation, Motorsport, Oil and gas, Medical, Automotive and many other Precision engineering manufactures.

The company has an excellent reputation and they supply high spec, quality CNC Machine Tools.

*What Sort of Person Are They Looking For?*

•    Engineering experience is essential – a hands on CNC machinist who has done their own machine maintenance would be great.
•    Someone who is reliable, motivated and good as talking to clients, you will be representing the company.
•    Someone who can make checks while keeping to a process.
•    You may be someone who has been a UK Service Engineer who now wants a more regional based role so you get home every night rather than living out of your suitcase – you very rarely have to stay away from home with this job – but if you do on the odd occasion you are compensated.
•    The company offer 25 days holiday + bank holidays + lots of other perks.
