Our Essex based client is a specialist machinery manufacturer employing approximately 70 staff at their purpose built design, engineering and office building near Basildon.

The basic equipment is made abroad and is then shipped over for final assembly, adding controls and ancillary equipment before being tested and shipped to the customer

All panel building, wiring and PLC programming is done on site and various other departments specialise in pneumatics, mechanical systems, machining, machine assembly, commissioning and documentation.

They are seeking to appoint a Mechanical Equipment Technician to assist in the machining, manufacturing and assembly of enclosures, equipment and machinery on our factory floor.

The role is very varied and requires machining, fitting, assembly, fault finding and pneumatic skills.

A certain amount of travel is required to support our worldwide customer base. But there is an uplift in pay as well overtime when working away.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Fitting and assembly work on the factory floor
• Conducting trials and tests on machinery
• Piping, testing and fault-finding pneumatic logic circuits
• Assembly, commissioning, support and service work at customers’ sites
• A certain amount of travel is required to support our worldwide customer base.

Required skills/attributes:

• Good basic engineering skills
• Able to interpret equipment assembly drawings and maintain the high-quality finish and output levels expected by our customers.
• Proven teamworking, attention to detail and good problem solver
• Practical engineering experience, particularly in mechanical assembly and machining
• Ideally some exposure to pneumatics & installation/commissioning work at customer sites
• Able to operate within the requirements of good health and safety discipline.
• Recognised Engineering certification/apprenticeship
• Training will be provided to familiarise the successful applicant with the specialist machinery and equipment we supply.
