Rebellion North are looking for an experienced Senior Low-level/Platform Programmer to work on Rebellion games as well as trusted industry partners on genre-defining AAA IPs. You will be joining the talented Rebellion North studio based in Ossett, Wakefield. Rebellion North are a dynamic and growing team who relish challenges and punching above their weight. The Opportunity

As a Senior Programmer you should feel right at home deep within the depths of a game engine and associated tools. Your specialised understanding of C++, code generation, optimisation and different platforms should give you the confidence to overcome difficult challenges.

You will work on in-house Rebellion games and with trusted industry partners on genre-defining IPs that push the boundaries of what spectators believe is possible as we bring experiences to new and existing platforms that many think is impossible.

As a senior, you will be self-motivated with a high level of initiative and able to work unsupervised. You will be passionate about video games and have professional C++ experience. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly adapt to and support in-house working practices and assist in mentoring less experienced programmers, as well as the usual responsibilities of a senior.

You will join a highly motivated and skilled team at Rebellion North where are currently working with trusted industry partners on Xbox Series & PlayStation 5. Our previous achievements include bringing Sniper Elite 4, Zombie Army: 4, Goat Simulator as well as many other titles to the Nintendo Switch, adding PlayStation 5 support to Football Manager and a whole host of other technical achievements and projects.

Our preference is for candidates to work together at our Wakefield site but hybrid candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a broad range of projects and tasks, making contributions to the development of low-level engine systems.
  • Upgrading game engines to support new and exciting platforms.
  • Adhere to industry best practices, development processes, documentation, and coding standards.
  • Provide mentorship to programmers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and implementing best practices within the team.
  • Play a role in coordinating and organizing both your own tasks and those of your colleagues.

Requirements

  • Excellent C/C++ experience
  • Ability to quickly familiarise yourself and work with large existing codebases.
  • Experience supporting video games on multiple platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Mac, Linux, Windows)
  • Experience writing cross-platform-friendly code
  • Demonstrable experience optimising code and using profiling tools
  • Skilled at deconstructing intricate problems into smaller, manageable tasks.
  • Strong debugging, system design & 3D maths skills
  • Experiencing working and maintaining multithreaded systems
  • Platform relevant Assembly knowledge is advantageous
  • Experience with different graphics APIs (DirectX 12, Vulkan as well as vendor specific APIs on console) is desirable
  • Graphics shader programming & optimisation (HLSL/GLSL) is beneficial
  • Experience writing SIMD code is an advantage
  • Mobile development experience (iOS/Android) is a bonus
