We have an opportunity at LEX Diagnostics for a Head of Software to join the LEX team. In this position you’ll be responsible for building and leading the software function at LEX while still being hands on with the software development for the launch product. You’ll be joining us as part of the leadership team and will work closely with internal cross-functional teams and be the interface with our external collaboration partners.

What you will be doing:

  • Building, leading and mentoring the software team.
  • Supporting and developing the firmware and software of the LEX system.
  • Confident at understanding the particular requirements of regulated software development for in vitro diagnostics (IVDs).
  • Ensuring adherence to and upkeep of software requirements, along with their connections to other documents within the requirements structure.
  • Working as part of the wider engineering team to troubleshoot and diagnose emerging issues.
  • Leading formal software verification

Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in developing software and bringing regulated products to market.
  • Previous involvement in regulated In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) development, including operating under ISO13485 and IEC62304.
  • Significant experience in formal software verification
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and bare-metal development.
  • A demonstrated track record of safety-critical software development.
  • Confident in working with embedded systems, including the ability to interpret electronics schematics and execute I/O operations.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

If you do have any of the following skills or experience, then these would be beneficial towards your application:

  • Managerial experience in a start-up environment would be a benefit. Previous experience with verification of a medical device for FDA 510(k) / CLIA waiver submission
  • Experience in C# and Python programming languages.
  • Familiarity with MS Azure RTOS and MS Windows development.
  • Enhanced understanding of electronics, including the ability to interpret component datasheets.
  • Applied physics and/or engineering proficiency in mechanical, thermal, and optical systems.
