Fire & Security Systems Design Engineer - Loughborough

Clymac are Fire & Security Systems specialist, delivering fully integrated Fire & Security Systems throughout the UK since 1992. We are currently looking to appoint a new Fire & Security Systems Design Engineer based at our Loughborough Head Office.

Basic Salary – up to £42,000 per ann

Clymac’s Design Engineer’s

Deliver design and costing support to system sales teams and provide technical advice and support to the company as a whole. This is not a sales role, however, it will be supporting and working closely with the sales team, primarily designing the fire and security systems for new build projects and assisting with the creation and issuing of quotations:

  • Design and production of fire alarm design proposals.
  • Managing multiple designs / proposals at any one time and prioritising according to project needs.
  • Customer facing with Clymac Business Development Managers where required to deliver proposals.
  • Liaising with Project Managers and installation teams to negotiate installation costs on supply, install & commission projects.
  • Ensuring that all designs & proposals produced are accurately costed and priced to achieve the agreed company margins and any necessary management approvals & sign offs are obtained prior to issue.
  • Ensuring all quotations are compliant with the relevant standards & regulations currently in force at the time, CDM, Fire Alarm British Standards etc.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, managing and maintaining design enquiries, including obtaining and evaluating relevant information, and responding promptly to customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Provide technical assistance, support and guidance to department team members and communicate and coordinate with internal personnel
  • Administration of all current enquiries, including job won handover files and parts SRM system updating.

  • Experienced fire design engineer (FIA design qualification or similar).
  • Technical knowledge of different manufacturers fire systems (i.e. Hochiki, Gent, Advanced, Ziton).
  • Previous experience similar role liaising with end user and contractors.
  • Autocad Trained.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to create and build strong relationships, with a professional approach.
  • Full, UK Drivers Licence
