This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Electronics Engineer to work with and design advanced camera robotics and game-changing virtual production technologies for film, TV, and live broadcast.

You will be joining a multi-disciplinary Agile team. This is a hands-on position centered around designing electronics and developing systems. You will define, design, build and test new products from initial conception to production.

The successful candidate will be experienced in capturing requirements and turning them into working designs. Capable of leading developments as well as people, you must be confident in your abilities as an out-of-the-box problem solver.

What you’ll do

  • Own the full electronic design process, including schematic capture, component selection, simulation, and PCB layout.
  • Provide input into specification definition, based on commercial/technical requirement, including liaison with stakeholders.
  • Evaluate & introduce new technologies, as well as improving existing technologies.
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory, compliance & safety agency standards, supporting the approval process.
  • Co-ordinate early prototype builds, taking a hands-on approach to debug and design verification.
  • Take part in subsystem level DFMEA activities to help identify risks and suitable mitigations.
  • Liaise with Contract Electronics Manufacturers.
  • Support production where required.
  • Produce design, integration, and test documentation.
  • Collaborate across teams and disciplines to resolve design & integration challenges.
  • Support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and experience when needed.
  • Ensure the electronics team deliver work to priorities through delegation and mentorship.

What we’re looking for:

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering is preferrable, though not essential.
  • Extensive industry experience, working on the development of production-ready systems and the design of multi-layer PCB’s (stack-up design).
  • Electronics design in CAD (preferably Altium), both schematic and layout.
  • Experience with microprocessor and microcontroller designs, communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Profibus, etc), high-speed communication interfaces and buses.
  • Design for EMC compliance design for manufacturing and test (DFM, DFT).
  • Experience with power supply design in a mobile or low power environment, memory subsystems e.g., DDR, Nand, EMMC.
  • Experience interacting with Software teams at device driver level.
  • Experience designing for signal integrity.
  • Understanding of mechanical design challenges and how to design electronics around these challenges.
  • A self-starter, approaching projects proactively and often independently.
  • You’ll have the confidence to challenge ideas and make standalone decisions.
  • You are task oriented, working to a high standard, always keeping quality and accuracy in mind.

Benefits & Perks

  • Casual office environment.
  • Daily subsidised lunches that promote healthy eating and encourage you to try something new.
  • While we request some flexibility from you, we’re also open to flexible work hours to accommodate a win-win situation for all.
  • A continuous development budget to put towards courses, training and conferences.
  • Private health insurance with AXA Health that covers many physical and mental health costs, including dental and vision cash back.
  • Gym membership discounts via AXA Health.
  • Group life insurance and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Cycle to Work scheme – we buy a bike up-front, and you pay it off over the next twelve months via a salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Occasional office social events, giving you the chance to build on deeper connections with peers.
  • 33 days base holiday (25 days + 8 bank holidays), including company closure between Christmas and NY.

Interview Process

Our interviews are quite informal and conversational, generally carried out over a 3-stage process. To help us learn more about your workplace behaviours and preferences, you’ll be invited to complete a short Predictive Index (PI) Behavioural and Cognitive Assessment.

Depending on the position, you may also be requested to undertake a technical assessment. The final stage normally involves meeting with senior members of the management team in our office in North Greenwich, London.
