Role - Submarine Safety Engineer

Salary: £45,000-£55,000 depending on experience

Office location: Bristol

Our provision of high-quality support to the Royal Navy’s submarine programme is a great source of pride, and our continued success in this area means that we are actively seeking a high calibre individual with engineering experience of submarine systems and/or safety management to join our Submarine Engineering Support Group.  

This role would suit an ex-submariner looking to utilise your skills and expertise from the Royal Navy, within a career in Safety Engineering. You will be embedded, in a client facing role, primarily submarine engineering focussed.  

You will be able to leverage your skills and knowledge to lead on several projects supporting the in-service submarine community, which could include: 

• Providing direct support to the Submarine Delivery Agency through the provision of SME advice.  

• Utilising in-service safety architecture and associated management systems to develop safety justifications. 

• Producing Whole Ship Safety Case and Nuclear Safety Case documentation, for both current and future classes of submarine.  

• Authoring bespoke technical documentation in support of submarine availability.  

Requirements

Essential

• Experience of Submarine Operation  

• Qualified Cat A1, A2, Cat B Nuclear Watchkeeper.  

Desirable

• Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status. 

• Knowledge / experience of working in submarine support organisations.  

• Knowledge of submarine safety cases and safety analysis techniques, including risk assessment and hazard management. 

• Experience in the provision of Technical Assurance and Technical Governance. 

 

*Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates for this role will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy SC clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting
