The Role

As Unix Systems Specialist (Solaris) you will play a pivotal role in managing Solaris based IT Systems and storage. You will lead the development, management and support of UKAEA's Solaris Operating System installations, providing expert level design, management and support for day to day operation. You will be working closely with Scientists, Diagnosticians and Software developers on operational control, diagnostics, data warehousing and backup systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Guide the setup and proactive management of high-availability Solaris storage clusters.
  • Oversee planning, deployment, and management of on-site authentication and Endpoint management servers.
  • Collaborate with users to align system services with their needs.
  • Monitoring Solaris systems for potential issues and to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support colleagues running key services such as Email services, Database services and in-house developed applications.
