Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

£42,000 - £43,000/annum £42-43k per annum INCLUDING shift

Our client, an international engineering company based near Chester-le-Street, is now looking to recruit an experienced multi-skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team.

Main Job Purpose:

To optimise operational performance through proactive / reactive maintenance techniques.

Working Hours:

Rotating shift pattern – 1 week days, 1 week nights, 1 week evenings, as per the following hours

Days 6am-2pm

Evenings 2pm-10pm

Nights 10pm-6am

All shifts are Monday – Friday, overtime is available but not guaranteed.

Principle Accountabilities

  1. Safeguard the integrity and safety of all plant and equipment associated with manufacturing operations through carrying out all work to agreed company standards
  2. Support the drive towards continual improvement.
  3. Keep accurate and up to date records of all repairs, servicing and modifications to equipment to improve the integrity and relevance of data to allow an informed management decision making process.
  4. Maintain and document an accurate and comprehensive system of spares for all equipment ensuring that critical spares are ordered to agreed stock levels
  5. Promote Maintenance as a champion of Service Excellence by providing an immediate response to rectify disruption in the production environment
  6. Optimise operational performance through carrying out effective and on time preventative maintenance and responsive reactive breakdown maintenance.
  7. Ensure that all Production Led Maintenance (PLM) is carried out effectively and on time to all equipment
  8. Ensure that all breakdowns are attended to using advanced fault finding techniques to minimise downtime to production equipment.

Qualifications:

Formal craft apprenticeship (or equivalent) with engineering qualification at ONC / HNC (or equivalent) and minimum of 5 years electrical/electronic/mechanical experience in high volume technically sophisticated manufacturing.

  • Should be able to demonstrate a range of skills including team working, problem solving, good communication skills and enthusiasm (essential).
  • Should be able to demonstrate the ability to read all standardised electrical/ Pneumatic/Hydraulic drawings.(essential)
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of computer / PLC literacy (desirable).
  • Should be able to demonstrate a range of skills including team working, problem solving, good communication skills and enthusiasm (essential).
