Water Hygiene Technician

Location: Covering Devon, Cornwall & South Wales

Hours of work: 40

Contract Type: Permanent

Our client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Water Hygiene Technician to join their team.

In this vital role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including monitoring, one-off remedial cleaning, chemical testing, and performing minor plumbing and mechanical duties.

Job Description

Your work will ensure our clients’ compliance with the Legionella control programme as outlined in the Water Technical Manual.

This is a mobile, field-based position covering the Devon, Cornwall & South Wales region, offering you the opportunity to work across a range of sites while playing a key part in maintaining high health and safety standards.

You’ll report directly to the Service Manager, ensuring that all client requirements are met with precision and professionalism.

This role offers the flexibility of working independently while being supported by a team of experts dedicated to maintaining top-quality water hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine monitoring tasks in line with the Approved Code of Practice L8
  • Carry out work in line with company safe systems of works
  • Be an ambassador for the Company whilst visiting customers sites
  • Maintain customer’s water safe log books in line with the Approved Code of Practice L8 and company guidelines
  • Take a variety of Water samples from multiple sector properties and document these samples in line with the Water safety plan
  • Complete and submit all documentation relating to the work carried out in a timely manner and produce documentation and follow up regarding customer queries
  • Carry out water system clean and disinfections in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L8 with guidance for the Water Technical Manual
  • Test, service and maintain of thermostatic mixing valves
  • Simple remedial plumbing tasks

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • A technical background relating to plumbing would be advantageous
  • Previous experience within Compliance Servicing, Legionella Monitoring or Water Treatment is desirable
  • Understanding of Water Systems would be desirable
  • Basic IT skills, preferably with Microsoft package
  • Demonstrable organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to work under pressure, being able to manage and work to deadlines
  • Understands the importance of, and can demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Be a strong Team Player
