We are looking for a NPI Manufacturing Engineer for a 24 month contract based in Derby on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.
Job description - the NPI Manufacturing Engineer
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager for, you will be a critical point of contact dealing with ensuring continuity of the Operational Facility, provide the technical support over all activities with the shop including critical build activities.
As a NPI Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Create, maintain and develop the technical packages for a large variety of engine commodities in line with business requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis for any issues arising during the trial of new products, ensuring effective resolution and prevention of future occurrences.
- Lead investigations into product trial failures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement corrective actions.
- Deliver cost reduction through improvement activities.
- Provide definition, maintenance and improvement of technical instructions utilising current and future IT systems and processes.
- Liaise with other engineering functions and provide support to maintain and improve site delivery commitments.
- Prepare and deliver technical communications (e.g. presentation and/or reports) to suppliers and internal stakeholders as necessary.
- Work with interfacing teams, local experts, partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required.
- Resolve technical problems and exercise professional judgement.
- Manage and maintain the integrity of business related data in support of manufacturing processes.
- Plan and manage activities, communicating current status to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with all legal and customer requirements.
What we require from the NPI Manufacturing Engineer:
- Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and appropriate measurement systems.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently and within a multi-skilled team.
- Ability to operate with minimal direction and navigate ambiguity within a global MRO network.
- Knowledge of foundational ME toolsets and RRPS principles.
- Experience with systems engineering and problem-solving methodologies (7-step / 8D).
- Proficiency in conducting root cause analysis for issues arising during product trials, with a focus on effective resolution and prevention.
- Experience leading investigations into product trial failures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement corrective actions.
