Job Description – Technical Sales Engineer

Our Client is a leading supplier of engineering services and repair of rotating equipment such as electric motors, pumps, generators, fans, alternators etc.

The company now requires a Technical Sales Engineer to sell their balancing service from their facility in the Wallasey area. This is related to balancing and dynamic balancing of rotating equipment and you should have some knowledge or hands on experience, however if you are an Engineer with sales experience you will also be considered.

You will need to be well presented, organised and planned. Experience and knowledge of balancing and dynamic balancing is desired as our customers will expect you to be able to assist with their technical questions. Training on balancing equipment will be given but embracing the technical advantages of our clients services with enthusiasm is essential. Honesty, attention to detail and ensuring discipline to return calls and enquiries methodically is also required.

Some of the sales appointments may be non-technical, others very much so. Customers may include small and large engineering companies that don't have their own Balancing Department and it would be up to you to sell these services to companies.

Responsibilities Include:

Sales Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Identify and prospect potential customers through market research, cold calling, networking, and other lead generation methods.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure customer satisfaction and foster repeat business.
  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to showcase the features, benefits, and technical specifications of our products or services.
  • Understand customer requirements and pain points, and offer customized solutions that address their specific needs.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to provide technical expertise, support, and guidance during the sales process.
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals, quotes, and contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions of sales agreements to maximise profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitors' activities to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and events to network with potential customers and promote our products or services.
  • Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to the sales manager, highlighting achievements, challenges, and action plans.
  • Any other reasonable task or duty as requested by management.

Requirements Include:

  • Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in a B2B environment.
  • Proven experience in technical sales or a similar role, preferably within the same industry.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of complex technical products or services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with customers and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Solid understanding of sales principles and techniques, including prospecting, negotiation, and closing deals.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with a proactive approach to sales.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide innovative solutions to customer needs.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with customers and attend industry events.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

The salary for this role is £35K plus car, company bonus and other good company benefits.
