Purpose of the Job:
Cell Manufacturing Engineer focused on supporting and developing the current cell manufacturing processes and equipment. Will also support the development, installation and commission of new processes and equipment internally and at customer sites. Assist in specifying plant layout, materials flow and materials storage for existing production lines and any new manufacturing sites.
​The successful candidate will be an experienced manufacturing engineer, very comfortable in using the modern manufacturing toolbox, such as the methodologies of 6σ and Lean. They should also be a strong problem solver, able to experiment effectively, analyse and draw conclusions from data and put observations into context. Ideally a good knowledge of the techniques used in solar, PCB, semi-con and flat panel manufacture.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Cell Engineering and fabrication process
  • Provide support for manufacturing operations.
  • Organize parts, building and paperwork for prototypes
  • Interface with many business sectors across the business
  • Set up production cells, including the full documentation pack and full training
  • Develop current manufacturing processes and strong in problem resolution.
  • Assist in the acquisition of new equipment, including planning for delivery and commissioning.
  • Liaise with manufacturing operations and research and development to solve problems.
  • Ensure equipment performs within the expected ranges of performance.
  • Undertake technology transfer to manufacturing Licensee’s
  • Support design and set up of manufacturing site with Licensee’s


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

Essential

  • Preferred BEng/Meng Mechanical and or Manufacturing Engineering or relevant field
  • Very hands on with the process and encouraging the team to embrace this philosophy
  • Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • Ideally experienced in deposition technologies and/or thermal processing and/or laser technologies
  • 6σ/Lean trained and daily user of these techniques
  • Documentation Skills
  • Willing to travel abroad
  • Willing to work shift patterns

  • Manufacturing Methods and Procedures
  • Technical Understanding
  • Documentation Skills
  • Safety Management
  • Advanced MS Office skills and preferably in statistical analysis software also
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
