We are looking for a CNC Applications Engineer to join our growing Process team. Our Applications Engineer will drive all improvements and daily operations related to our CNC Machining Processes. The roles responsibilities include creation & control of all CNC Programs, Tool sourcing and cycle time reduction, defining machine specifications and developing systems to meet both Production Quality & Output demands.

What you’ll be doing as our CNC Applications Engineer:

  • Managing all projects related to the CNC processes.
  • Developing existing tooling packs whilst sourcing improved solutions.
  • Working with new and existing suppliers on tooling and machining trials.
  • Managing each project with a cost reduction focus, analysing the cost impact to production of existing and new tooling.
  • Analysing our stream of CNC machining work, through process and business metrics, examination of jobs, and by direct observation on the plant floor.
  • Using your analytic skills and creativity to identify patterns in our stream of work, and come up with process improvements to increase quality and productivity.
  • Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production.
  • Creation and control of all CNC programs.
  • Designing work holding, fixturing & poke yokes solutions to reduce cycle time and improve process yield including prove off new programs for NPI.
  • Training and developing production staff as required.
  • Developing and optimising detailed machining processes.
  • Creating and optimising improved strategy-driven programming techniques.
  • Choosing, installing, commissioning, and process development for new machinery and capabilities.

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience you will need as our CNC Applications Engineer:

  • CNC Machining experience in an Engineering capacity (3 and 5 axis milling and turning with live tooling).
  • Have experience within an industry manufacturing precision part to tight tolerances – ideally from aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Strong analytic skills, flexibility of thinking and problem solving.
  • A clear understanding of manufacturing/production processes.
  • The ability to work with managers, employees, suppliers and all other interested parties to successfully manage projects to implement process improvements.
  • Able to program CAD CAM Software.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of CNC programming techniques, CAD / CAM, jig and tool design.
  • Good knowledge of program editing and G-codes.
  • Good knowledge of set up and operation.

Need to have:

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Manufacturing Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 5+ years of CNC Machining experience
  • Have experience with both Fanuc / Siemens controls.
