Technical Manager - Mechanical Engineering

Randstad Engineering are recruiting for a Technical Manager - Mechanical Engineering on behalf of our Aerospace client who are based in Gloucestershire.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

  • A high degree of ownership for team success with proven track record, this includes demonstrable problem-solving skills, ability to adapt to issues as they arise and provide solutions.
  • Formal Engineering or Science qualification, ideally Aerospace related.
  • Commensurate depth of experience in managing complex project teams, ideally in the Aerospace industry.
  • First-hand knowledge and experience of mechanical engineering practices, processes and resource provision including related hardware and software.
  • Experience with common project management tools as well as standard office software applications.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, proven working in teams with technical and non-technical members and building rapport with those.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams with varying levels of requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Flexible and dynamic approach to work with a high level of positivity, drive and ambition to help achieve the organisation's goals.


  • Day-to-day running of the mechanical engineering team, proactively managing workload and resources.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, develop project resource plans and budgets to support project delivery on time and in scope.
  • Maintain oversight and accountability of internal and external stakeholder communication and relationships, progress and design reviews, task and budget management.
  • Be instrumental in identifying, raising, tracking and acting on risks, facilitating swift problem resolution where necessary.
  • Report status on several aspects of team and project performance, efficiently and effectively manage issues and resolve conflicts.
  • Ensure provision of facilities and resources, positive, healthy and safe working environment.
  • Hiring, onboarding, continued training, performance and development reviews of team members.
  • Coordinate approvals with the company leadership team.
  • Contribute to and develop team and management best practices and execution standards.
