We're currently helping a highly regarded construction and civil engineering firm recruit for a Contracts Manager in the Southeast.

If you have a proven track record in delivering civil engineering projects, taking responsibility for a variety of demanding assignments from start to finish and executing to a high standard and within clearly defined budgets and timescales, then you could be perfect for the role and we'd love to hear from you.

You will be self-employed with a basic salary of £60,000 - £65,000 dependent on experience, plus benefits including company car, fuel allowance, laptop, phone, plus excellent career development opportunities.


The Role
You would play a key role as part of a small team of Contracts Managers, reporting directly to the MD, managing projects across Kent, London and the Southeast. While based at the company's Maidstone office you will spend the majority of your time at client and project sites across the region, therefore a willingness to travel is essential.

Responsibilities will include…
- Conducting risk assessments and method statements, ensuring all works meet quality standards
- Managing health and safety on all projects
- Attending sites at pricing stage to agree scope of works and quantify with clients, setting benchmarks of work
- Maintaining excellent communication with the client, site staff and subcontractors throughout every project
- Maintaining and compile all contract completion documentation
- Managing plant and material orders
- Working on site - inspecting work, checking materials and their delivery and storage, checking that everyone follows the safety rules
- Working in office - dealing with contracts and clients, holding meetings to keep project on time and within budget


The Candidate
We are looking for a highly experienced Contracts Manager with an accomplished track record working in a managerial capacity within civil engineering. You will hold a relevant project management qualification plus SMSTS accreditation and must be able to demonstrate a track record of successfully delivering complex civil engineering projects. Experience working in a self-employed / contractor capacity would be an advantage.

In addition you must have…
- Good planning, time and budget management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to delegate as well as motivate
- A high standard of IT competency, including MS Office
