Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Technical Manufacturing Engineer to join on a 12-month contract in Derby.

You will be responsible for writing programs for CMM component inspection to product definitions, prove out and validate written programs (through gauge R&R) and providing support to operations. For you, this means unique opportunities to work across our portfolio of products and services.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Methods of Manufacture to realise part designs.
  • Generating the technical package for the shop floor for the manufacture of parts. This will include Technical Instructions, Manufacturing Stage Drawings, Production Routers.
  • Use of Build in Quality tools such as Process Maps, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEAs), and Control Plans.
  • Verifying the design intent has been met by creating FAIR’s (First Article Inspection reports).
  • Day to day planning of projects in line with IPPR gates.
  • Liaison with other departments such as design, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing to ensure delivery of parts to set timescales and targeted costs.
  • Create user friendly CMM programs using Quartis / Quindos / MCOSMOS offline software to Rolls-Royce best practice
  • Create adequate manufacturing instructions for operators to understand and follow
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings (Product Definitions) to ASME standard

Qualifications and experience required to apply for the role:

  • As a manufacturing engineer you will need to be degree qualified (or equivalent) or have the requisite technical experience, a passion to succeed and a vision of how modern manufacturing should be achieved.
  • Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum HND/foundation degree or another national equivalent).
  • UK IEng (Incorporated Engineer) or CEng (Chartered Engineer) or another national equivalent.
  • Possessing general understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business.
  • Possessing general awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, Manufacturing Intelligence, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business.
  • Having good understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role in the product lifecycle.
  • Have excellence communications skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience with Quartis / Quindos / MCOSMOS Measuring Softwar
  • Experience using Wenzel / Leitz CMMs
  • Experience with Mitutoyo software / CMMs is desirable
  • Experience with NX or equivalent CAD software is desirable
  • Experience in measurement / inspection environments
  • Knowledge of manual / CMM inspection methodology
