Senior Civil Engineer

Our infrastructure team in the Winchester office is expanding, with work in the water, highways, rail and energy sectors. Offering a "one-stop-shop" for clients, we also work closely with our multi-disciplinary buildings and consulting teams.
We are recruiting for a technically strong, experienced and motivated Civil Engineer to join our infrastructure team.
Your technical expertise will include a variety of skills which could encompass:
- Flood Risk and Drainage
- Utility design and coordination
- River and coastal engineering
- Highway Design
- Water Supply
- Civil Structures
And will include an understanding and interest in sustainability, climate change and resilience.
While the provision of Civil/Infrastructure Engineering is a vital part of your role, you will also be instrumental in developing our Civil Engineering business by attending client meetings, producing bid documentation and general business development activities, and taking personal responsibility for the management and development of your colleagues. You will be expected to actively share knowledge across the team to contribute to others development and strive to deliver the highest quality of service to our clients.
You will already have contributed to various design projects and will be used to producing work to a high calibre. You will be a self-starter with a strong team ethic. You will have good knowledge in civil engineering design and have similar experience in a design consultancy. Working in project teams to support the Project Manager with design and analysis, you will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects in a multi-discipline arena. You will have technical expertise in civil/infrastructure that you will pass on to the team and supervise such design work, ensuring excellent solutions are delivered to our client. The team skills are developed in the process.
What we look for

Senior Civil Engineer Qualifications
- Master's degree qualified (2:1 or above preferred) in a relevant subject, e.g. MEng, or equivalent.
- Chartered through your chosen professional institution
Senior Civil Engineer Essential skills, knowledge and behaviours
- Design experience in site development areas, including utility and drainage design, flood risk assessment, road pavement design and layout, earthworks design, and site procurement issues.
- Be up to date with the latest analysis and design software, i.e. Microdrainage, Autodesk, BIM, GIS and river modelling analysis packages.
- Excellent technical skills combined with a practical understanding of site development and construction
- Highly motivated and willing to learn and take on new challenges, enthusiastic about developing your skills and experiences, as well as the development of others
- Have a good knowledge of various codes, easily swap between codes, and get to grips with new ones quickly.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a range of software programmes for design and modelling
Senior Civil Engineer Desirable skills, knowledge and behaviours
- Experience of working on construction sites
- Experience of working with other disciplines which influence infrastructure design such as Geotechnics
- Seek to improve existing ways of working by finding efficiencies in processes
- Commercial awareness and keen to learn about the business side of our operations
